Sony vs. Kim Jong-un / Impaired vs. Impaired

It’s no surprise North Korea would be upset about the recent movie starring James Franco and Seth Rogan. You’ve heard about it; Tee Tong-lu vs. Wollywood. [See how easy it is to change a name] North Korea lives in a world of its own, a country ruled by one man who has shown signs of complete insanity. Hollywood, on the other hand, is dictated by an elite group of snot-nosed fakes. I think we have an evenly matched dispute.

It makes sense Hollywood would throw a tantrum when rejected. It’s tough living in a world of make believe. After being worshiped like Gods and making money hand over foot, it’s only natural these filmmakers would start to believe they’re invincible. But when Americans are expected to climb on board the coo-coo train; maybe it’s time for a little dose of reality.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize this brainless plot was devised for money, but are we really supposed to allow extreme egotism to dictate our safety? Not that I’m supporting Kim Jong-un, but a quick look at the mindset of our own leaders, not to mention Hollywood, might shed some light on why some people fall for these schemes.

Lets face it; the world is not the cuddly, sweet little ball of life some pretend it to be. It’s an age of children shooting children, with Hollywood beating on the ambulance doors, harassing the victim for a story. The movie business is a group of people who slaughter each other in films, make millions at the box office, then campaign for gun control. If that’s not an example of bending over for a buck, I don’t know what is. I don’t share Hollywood’s double standards, and when these moviemakers put a gun to my head and demand I back them up, it’s time to slam on the brakes.

But the argument stands; Hollywood will lose millions. Maybe that’s the price for planning a foolish stunt. Some mistakes are costly. Most of us can’t conceive losing millions—no wait a minute—we give millions to Hollywood; that’s how they make money. My how selfishly they spend it.

Moral fiber has always played a miniscule role in Hollywood, and it definitely won’t be found in Kim Jong-un, but this film’s publicity stunt reaches an all-time low. Even the Cochroachian family could learn a new trick from this swindle. You, Hollywood, have just told us, our safety is second to your greed. Well that just sucks.

Some will support this film because America loves a good thief. For example: we cherish the Rockefellers, honor the Kennedys, and hold the Bush family in high esteem. With so many [self-funded] organizations trying to improve lives of the less fortunate, it seems ironic to worship the fortunes built from slavery, alcohol, and cocaine. Many of you would disagree with that statement, that is, until you do your homework. Not to worry if you’ve never researched the above mentioned; Hollywood has been there all along, twisting the truth to make a buck. Seems ironic Hollywood would preach ethics at this point in the game.

North Korea may be a corrupt place, but when the layers of narcissism are peeled away, our government is ten-fold more corrupt. What makes us special is we’re taught to hide everything negative. Nobody likes a hater, and in the name of freedom, we lie to each other in order to stay positive. We shun other countries that take care of their own people. But the truth behind the brainwashing is simple; America is a business, and “We the People” are the employees. Wall Street runs our government and we, in return, behave as we’re told, happily dancing at the breakfast table with the cherry Pop-Tarts we’re told to buy.

Hollywood operates no differently, enforcing the falseness that Americans are the chosen race; the highest form of mankind, selected by God to flaunt our fantasy lives. Hollywood has made billions sending that message to the world. Some Americans are starting to believe it. Meanwhile the big boys in Hollywood are driving a locomotive across the country at full speed, shaking people for the change in their pockets. In turn, millions of Americans mimic Hollywood’s message, as a morally bankrupt lifestyle will surely make you some money. And boy do we worship money.

I’m not sure who the bitch is in-between the sheets, but Hollywood and Wall Street have a sweet thing going on, and America is rapidly becoming the greediest, most hated, under privileged, and yes, corrupt, ‘Super Power’ on the globe. Kudos on the scam, but I vote we take this train off the tracks.

Now that the cards are on the table, Hollywood, as expected, is crying like a third grader, laying their actions in the governments lap, [There’s a shining example of functionality] eager to toss safety out the window. And you’re right, George Clooney, I would hold you accountable if a family member was killed by attending your film, especially since you’ve placed humans at risk for the sake of a dollar. That said, my family is a little smarter than that, and they definitely wouldn’t expect the government to step in when they, themselves, have done something stupid.

Hollywood and Kim Jong-un seem to be a good match: both blinded by greed, both living under a crown of arrogance, both wholeheartedly believing they are more deserving.
I think it’s fair to say this movie won’t unearth any groundbreaking theories, no earth-shattering discoveries, and certainly no award winning roles. Seth Rogan has the charm of a fourth grader and we love his bouncing stomach, in every, single, movie. James Franco has been around long enough to ask the people of this country for financial aid, imposing Kickstarter on fans who already pay his mortgage.

In all fairness, not all movies are vain and destructive. Some films have a message and they touch the heart. Rare, but true. Kudos on that, but my advice; save your self-righteousness for a good cause, Hollywood.

I disagree Americans should come second to safety, and I think it’s fair to say we’ve reached a boiling point with our country’s lack of respect for human beings. All in all, this isn’t about backing down from a bully; it’s about placing innocent people in harms way. If Hollywood chooses to stand on North Korean soil and propose this idiotic scheme, then go ahead, get your own heads blown off, but leave us out of your arrogant plot. Now is not the time to pile your shit-stirring on the average American, the ones who pay all debts in this country, and the ones who grieve when the slaughtering reaches our families—eighty Americans every day.

Since we’re told we don’t matter, I propose every theater in the country increase security and send Hollywood the invoice. Personally, I’m exhausted with footing the bill for millionaire babies who make a living sucking cash from others.

Blessed by Apollo

Johnny Walker

In the world of art, creation, and head banging milestones, there are times when it seems the task of taking an idea and making it real will never end. An artist is constantly faced with one more detail, one tiny nuance—the final dash of seasoning before you can serve up the stew.

But sometimes a gift from the saints appears and brightens your day, even if it’s not a gift for you. My gift was hearing the news of a terrific vocalist whose band had made the ballot for the 57th Grammys.

Her name is Halley DeVestern, and I’ve known this awesome artist for about as long as I’ve been riding the C Train. I’ve seen her live performances many times and been blown away by the way she paints every song with her artistic vocals and dynamic stage presence, by the way her band seems to breathe with Halley as she charters them over every wave of artistic passion.

About a year ago, I called Halley as she was wrapping up her album “Fabbo! Boffo! Smasho!” I asked if she’d be willing to help me record some vocals on a CD I was working on at Greene Street Music. Halley was receptive, but she was scheduled to hit the road in a few days, so I had to move fast. I wasn’t quite ready for Halley to step in the booth, but knowing this opportunity might pass me by, I jumped on the break and brought her in.

Recording music in the studio is a timely process, and knowing the plan is essential. Otherwise, money will take wings and fly out the window, especially when you’re paying the costly rate of studio time for vocal rehearsals.

My fear reached an all time high when Halley appeared, knowing I’d have to wear my uncertainty on my sleeve. I had an idea of what I wanted for the vocal parts, but since I hadn’t even laid out the lead vocals, I put Halley in a bad spot, instructing her to do several takes of ‘Oh baby’ and ‘Ah-huh’ along with the specific lyrics she would need to sing on several song traks.

Being the Professional she is, Halley came in and nailed it, not only with what I’d requested, but with ideas, suggestions and advice. Given the quality of her voice, I started seeing the project take a better path than I had planned.

After Halley had blesses the project with her magic, we continued recording the songs for the Nathan Juju CD, and I once again I found myself wearing insecurity on my sleeve; this time with Reed, the engineer at Green Street.

I’m not a fan of Auto Tune and fixing vocals, or creating samples, etc. I’m old school, and I take pride in that. I started recording music in the eighties, and if the artist didn’t nail the note, by either instrument or vocal, then it had to be done again—regardless of how many takes it took. Problem was, Halley had already hit the road, and it’s not that she didn’t secure the notes, but the vocals weren’t in sync with the songs.

What I learned from Reed at Greene Street was invaluable. We could avoid fake notes and all the ‘Kanye’ shortcuts by delicately moving her vocal traks to match the rhythmic placement of each song. I realized the digital world had quite a lot to offer, even though it was essentially the same as working with tape. The major difference was; digital placement took a few minutes, and working with tape could take all night.

Reed worked his magic throughout the next few months, concerned with every nuance and detail. One song in particular had over forty individual string lines, which I played one by one on the violin, stacking the lines to complete a rock orchestration. Just when I thought I’d lose my mind, Reed knew how to bring me back, assuring me we were on the right path.
During the final mixing, I beamed with pride hearing Halley’s vocals. Don’t get me wrong; I’m uber proud of the songs and music done by Nathan Juju, a band that exists in a book Trilogy, but Apollo must have stepped in at some point and blessed me with these two incredible artists; Halley DeVestern, and Reed Taylor.

I’m trailing the dynamic Trio in this scenario, with Halley’s album “Fabbo! Boffo! Smasho!” being on the ballot for the 57th Grammys, and Greene street Music having recorded some of the latest trends in music. My CD by Nathan Juju: the EKKO Mysteries Soundtrack, has been receiving great reviews and people are enjoying the songs. In the world of art and head banging detours, I’m feeling pretty fortunate.

Now I’m taking my Trilogy and the CD soundtrack to the SPBE Book Expo in New York City on November 15. But whether I climb on board with these two professionals, or not, I find more satisfaction that I ever thought I’d have, knowing my product holds up. After all, I had Apollo’s blessing. It had to be him. He sent me to Halley and Reed, which gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment. Apollo held my hand during this recording, reminding me that perseverance will often lead to the best resolution.

I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to thank Halley DeVestern and Reed Taylor for guiding me through the choppy seas of recording this CD.

I am truly blessed.

Passing this on from Martha Jette

Yesterday, I learned that Download Genius has every single one of my books and ebooks listed for free download.

Every author needs to be aware of this site and to check to see that their books are not being offered for free there.

Authors work very hard writing their books and even harder to ensure that they are perfect. We do not deserve to be ripped off in this way.

I have contacted Amazon.com, which handles many of my works to let them know that they are losing money because of this site. They make much more than I do off of them so you would think they would take action.

As of this morning, I received a response from Amazon saying they did not authorize these books on Download Genius and are having their respective departments look into this matter further.

I don't know at this point if anything will be resolved here. I received an email from Download Genius this morning saying they took down one of my books but when I checked, it was still listed.

Make sure you go to the site as soon as possible. Then inform your publisher, Amazon or other affected site that this has happened to you too. Hopefully, it has not.

I will attempt to stay on top of this until this site gets my books off their list and will keep you posted. If you see that this has happened to you, please let me know. There is strength in numbers, so this is very important.

EKKO Mysteries Trilogy has hit the streets.

Thanks to Apple's new Interactive iPad features, we've taken the EKKO story up a notch, by jumping in the studio and creating some musical recordings. As opposed to background music, these lyrics have been structured to fit the story, as have the song styles, matching a band that has, fictionally, been touring for over twenty years.

As CJ tours with the rock band, Nathan Juju, there are now live music snippets in the books that follow the paranormal stage adventures. The recordings place the reader in the front row of the concert, in the moment, making the reading experience much more fun.

We've also added some awesome pics, an opening video, and a glossary for those technical terms, to all three books.

There were many great artists, engineers, and vocalists involved in the Nathan Juju CD, and we're honored to have them on board. For information on Nathan Juju, the band that lives in the books, please visit  www.NathanJuju.com

All in the name of fun...
